How did Umberto's Mens Wear begin?
Umberto Autore was born in Italy during the war years and struggled to learn the fine trade of tailoring and design. He eventually trained in Florence, Italy and became a master tailor with a professional skill for detail. After coming to the U.S. Umberto designed for the famous New York clothier, Louis Roth. His dream was created when he opened Umberto's in Long Beach in 1960.
Umberto worked alone and developed his reputation through the years, dressing many of Southern California’s executives, celebrities and sports figures. His dedication to excellence and personal, warm service earned him a loyal and large customer base.Together with his son, Anthony, and his professional staff of many years, Umberto’s clothier continues to dress men of all ages in the latest in fashion and style.
